Therefore, proper maintenance and storage are essential to extend the service life of hose couplings. Here are some effective maintenance and storage methods:
1. Regular cleaning
Prevent impurity accumulation: Hose couplings should be cleaned immediately after use, especially when there is sand, impurities, oil or chemicals in the water flow. If these impurities accumulate for a long time, they may corrode the surface of the coupling or affect the function of the sealing ring.
Cleaning method: Rinse the coupling with clean water and use a soft cloth or brush to remove surface deposits. If there are oil stains or chemicals on the coupling, you can use an appropriate detergent to clean it, but make sure that the detergent has no corrosive effect on the material.
Drying treatment: The cleaned hose coupling needs to be thoroughly dried to prevent moisture from remaining inside and outside the coupling to avoid rust or corrosion.
2. Avoid ultraviolet radiation
Avoid long-term exposure to sunlight: Ultraviolet rays (UV) will accelerate the aging of materials such as rubber and plastic, and cause the sealing ring to harden and crack. Therefore, hose joints should be kept away from strong sunlight for a long time.

3. Correct storage environment

Temperature control: Hose joints should be kept away from extremely high or low temperature environments. 4. Regular inspection and maintenance
Check the wear of seals and joints: Regularly check seals, threads, flanges and other parts for cracks, wear or corrosion. If problems are found, replace the seals or repair the joints in time.
Lubricate joints and seals: Use appropriate lubricants (such as silicone grease, special rubber lubricants) to lubricate the contact surfaces and seals of hose joints to reduce friction and aging and help maintain sealing.
Prevent overtightening or loosening: Avoid overtightening or loosening when installing and removing hose joints. Overtightening may damage the seals, and over-loosening may cause leakage. Use appropriate tools and control the force.
5. Correct storage method
Avoid squeezing or heavy pressure: Hose joints should be protected from physical squeezing or heavy pressure, as these external forces may cause the joints to deform, affecting their sealing and connection stability. When storing, place the joints on a flat surface and avoid stacking too many items.
Avoid stretching when storing: Avoid placing hose joints in overstretched or bent positions, as this will cause unnecessary pressure on the joints and seals, causing aging or damage. When in use, make sure the joint can stretch freely and will not be pulled by external forces.
6. Test the function regularly
Check the sealing performance: Pressure test the stored hose joints regularly to ensure that their sealing performance meets the requirements. During the pressure test, make sure that the joints can withstand their rated pressure without leakage.
Check the corrosion resistance: For metal joints that are stored for a long time, check whether there are signs of rust or corrosion on the surface. If necessary, use anti-rust oil or special metal protective agent to treat it to prevent corrosion.
7. Use appropriate protective devices
Protective cover: For high-value or important hose joints, you can consider adding protective covers to prevent external physical damage or contamination.
Dedicated storage box: If conditions permit, you can use dedicated storage boxes or racks to store hose joints to avoid contact with other tools or equipment and reduce wear and contamination.
Proper care and storage of hose joints can effectively extend their service life and maintain their sealing and durability. By cleaning regularly, avoiding UV exposure, maintaining a dry and temperature-controlled environment, avoiding chemical contamination, and performing regular inspections and lubrication, you can significantly reduce aging and damage caused by environmental factors and ensure that the hose connectors operate efficiently over the long term.
